Problem with screen in gdm

I have a problem, when i'm using my computer (gentoo with gnome), after a period of time my screen turns black, first i thought it was the screen saver but it is not. When my screen turns black i can see the cursor but nothing else, and i can move the cursor, but there is nothing in the screen, just a black screen.

Do you know what is it and how can i fix this problem?

is there anything showing up in the XFree86.0.log under /var/log?
