I have used Kopete (MSN, ICQ, Jabber) for a couple of years now, first as a standalone app, now in KDE.

Recently I have added my Yahoo account too. Point is it refuses to work: it simply doesn't do anything. The icon remains grayed, no matter what I do. It doesn't even seem to try to connect.

I am sure the login and password are valid (just tried to login on http://messenger.yahoo.com/ and that worked) and I have tried to start kopete from konsole to see if there was any debug info. But nothing particular for the yahoo plugin I think:

Code:

MNG error 1029: Chunk out of sequence; chunk TERM; subcode 0:0
MNG error 1029: Chunk out of sequence; chunk TERM; subcode 0:0
[repeated a couple of times]
MNG error 1029: Chunk out of sequence; chunk TERM; subcode 0:0
QGArray::find: Index 0 out of range
MNG error 1029: Chunk out of sequence; chunk TERM; subcode 0:0

I have also searched with those 2 messages, but no luck. They seem related to MSN, but MSN works nevertheless. I tried it on two computers (P4 and AMD XP, both running KDE), they show similar behavior.

Does anyone have a similar problem with Yahoo in Kopete or even better: a solution?

Yahoo had a change of protocol sometime back but the recent kopete (kde version 3.2.2) works quite well. You may want to upgrade to this version.

You might want to try upgrading to KDE 3.3 Alpha 1 and see if your bug is fixed there. The only error that I know of that keeps people from logging on is one that kopete didn't support (because I didn't know about it) until now. It has to do with invalid user name. It might be worth a shot.

just to close this thread: the problem was that I entered my account info wrong. I always took it like: 'account@yahoo.com', but instead it should just have been 'account' without the @yahoo.com addition.

After that it just worked!!!

Maybe it woul be a good idea to have kopete give some feedback bout the wanted format of the sign-in name. :D
