|

Is this the right forum to suggest suitable programs for inclusion in the Portage tree? It does seem to be, so I post my suggestion here.
The program I would like to see included in the Portage tree is R (www.r-project.org), a statistical computing language/environment. It is released under the GPL, and since it should belong in the app-sci category of the Portage tree but isn't there, I conclude that it is not currently in the Portage tree. It is a highly developed and usable program, and several frontends (e.g. a GNOME one) are available under the GPL (also from the above URL). |

The procedure for requesting a new ebuild is to go to bugs.gentoo.org and first search to make sure that the app you want has not already been requested and then submit a new bug requesting a new ebuild - include as much info as possible. _________________ "I do not fear computers. The R package is already in the portage tree, but it is in the dev-lang category. To install it just:
