Is there anybody who managed it to get an UW500 with ALSA to work?
My computer is an IBM notebook. The built in sound card works with ALSA. The UW500 is detected and correctly linked (shown with ls -l /proc/asound), but in alsamixer (or amixer) there is only one volume controller called PCM - no master and no others. I can unmute it, but not change its value. But even this value is very high, aplay says there is no device. Other sound programms (XMMS etc.) don't work too.
I installed the UW500 according to the manual on http://www.alsa-project.org/alsa-doc/doc-php/template.php?company=Yamaha&card=UW500&chip=&module=usb-audio
My configuration is shown on www.masi.li/own/gentoo/
Please help me.
Thank you,
