My situation is I have a laptop w/ a wifi card in my PCMCIA slot
which makes it impossible for me to plug in my ethernet card
at the same time to share access to my HP Evectra (mini pc).
I'm wondering if it's possible to share access from my wifi card to
a serial port, to a serial to ethernet adapter which then connects
an ethernet cable to my hp evectra?
thanx |

VolcomPimp,
Oh yes. You can do PPP over a serial port Ok. The best data rate you will get is 115k bits per second.
Why look for a serial to Ethernet adaptor. If both boxes have serial ports, you could use a null modem cable.
You can also do PPP (Ethernet) over USB, which is about 10 times faster but you need a special cable (some have kernel support).
Just for completeness, don't forget about the parallel ports. I'm sure you can do PPP over a parallel port too. Its about the only one I haven't used actually used. _________________ Regards,
