I am almost certain this is a duplicate...I just can't find the other, so I am not sure it (or how) was resolved.
I am currently running the 2.6.5 Gentoo kernel on Toshiba A10, with KDE 3.2.3. This problem however started with a 2.6.1 and and KDE 3.2.1. ALSA has been what ever the current "safe" build is.
When KDE 3.2 came out I lost all KDE sounds. After upgrades to KDE, and ALSA I got sound working again in varous KDE/X apps. However I still have no Sound generated by KDE itself. No sounds when minimizing or maximising, and no sounds from things like kopete which use the KDE sound system.
I have gone through the whole alsa setup and config all is working great, in console, and in various x apps like xmms, mplayer, and even the kde media player thing (forget the name)
Any idea what I am doing wrong? |

Do you have arts enabled / configured from within KDE? _________________ { NO -U } { STRIP }

oops, forgot to mention that. yes, arts is setup and enabled.
Though I am wondering if it's setup wrong...It's just defaults atm. I tried selecting alsa for the audio device spicificaly, but it didn't make any difference. |
