Still getting keyboard freezes in every recent kernel I've tried. Just emerged 2.6.6-win4lin sources this time as I wanted to test some windows applications.
It's kinda annoying because kernels before 2.6.5 don't support my laptops modem.
I still get keyboard freezes in 2.6.3 - when they do happen KDE slows to a crawl - but it recovers. Unfortunately later kernels do not.
I've posted on this in the past, but no-one came back with any suggestions _________________ SB

The key to getting assistance is to provide information.
What does your .config look like?
What does a vanilla kernel do with the same config?
Does the problem occur only in X, or also at the console?
Does the problem occur in single user mode?
What hardware are you running it on?
Pentium, PPC, SPARC, other?
PS/2, USB, or other keyboard?
What does dmesg show? Any hardware problems?
Running stable or unstable packages? _________________ Cheers,

Sorry; I'd provided all the information in a previous post which I should have really bumped instead
1 ) Pretty much the same across all my kernel versions - I know what hardware I have and what options I usually select and they are generally the same across the 2.6.x kernels...
2 ) Yes, and also to win4lin sources which I believe is the Vanilla kernel + NetTraverse patch...
3 & 4 ) I have had it hang at the console in the past, but it seems to do so much more frequently under X. I can't run in a console environment for long enough to test this unfortunately. It did however hang a few times whilst emerging stuff after the initial Gentoo installation after booting from the new kernel [2.6.5] before X was installed.
5 ) Toshiba Satellite Laptop - P4-M system
6 ) P4-M
6 ) Built in laptop keyboard
7 ) dmesg shows absolutely nothing at the time of crash
8 ) Both
I can literally run now [2.6.3] for hours quite happily. Sometimes the keyboard will stop and the system will slow down, but within a minute it recovers and carries on. Running a kernel after 2.6.3 results in the keyboard stopping and never recovering. The problem seems much more evident when using gaim or amsn, but is not restricted exclusively to them.
The initial support for my laptop modem was showing up in 2.6.5 which is why I wanted to get it up and working... _________________ SB
