|
I've compiled a new kernel:
# ls -lh /boot
total 18M
lrwxrwxrwx 1 root root 1 Apr 17 04:53 boot -> .
-rw-r--r-- 1 root root 33K Apr 12 01:46 config-2.6.5-gentoo
drwxr-xr-x 2 root root 1.0K Jun 13 10:47 grub
-rw-r--r-- 1 root root 240K May 20 22:38 initrd-1024x768
-rw-r--r-- 1 root root 100K May 20 23:53 initrd-1280x1024
-rw-r--r-- 1 root root 1.3M Mar 1 05:57 initrd-2.6.3-gentoo-r1
-rw-r--r-- 1 root root 1.1M Apr 11 18:40 initrd-2.6.5-gentoo
-rw-r--r-- 1 root root 2.4M Mar 1 05:46 kernel-2.6.3-gentoo-r1
-rw-r--r-- 1 root root 2.5M Apr 14 07:09 kernel-2.6.5-gentoo
-rw-r--r-- 1 root root 2.5M Apr 17 06:23 kernel-2.6.5-gentoo-r1
-rw-r--r-- 1 root root 2.5M Jun 13 04:55 kernel-2.6.5-gentoo-test
-rw-r--r-- 1 root root 2.5M Jun 13 05:05 kernel-2.6.5-gentoo-win4lin
-rw-r--r-- 1 root root 2.4M Apr 14 05:59 kernel-2.6.5-mm1
-rw-r--r-- 1 root root 900K Apr 17 05:07 vmlinuz-2.4.22-xfs
Here's my grub.conf:
Code: | title=Gentoo-test
root (hd0,9)
#kernel (hd0,9)/boot/kernel-2.6.3-gentoo-r1 root=/dev/ram0 init=/linuxrc real_root=/dev/hda12 #vga=0x317 splash=verbose
#initrd (hd0,9)/boot/initrd-2.6.3-gentoo-r1
#kernel (hd0,9)/boot/kernel-2.6.5-gentoo-r1 root=/dev/ram0 init=/linuxrc real_root=/dev/hda12 vga=0x317 splash=silent
#initrd (hd0,9)/boot/initrd-2.6.5-gentoo
kernel (hd0,9)/boot/kernel-2.6.5-gentoo-test root=/dev/hda12 vga=0x317 splash=verbose
initrd (hd0,9)/boot/initrd-1024x768 |
However, when I reboot, I find myself still using the old kernel:
# uname -r
2.6.5-gentoo-r1
Wierd things have been happening to me lately! _________________ AMD Athlon XP 2600+; 512M RAM;

Do I like to compile everything?
Positive definite!

Uh...did you mount your boot partition before you installed your kernel? I've made that mistake before... |

Sure I did, otherwise ls won't show the image there. _________________ AMD Athlon XP 2600+; 512M RAM;

OK, I've started all over again and now I'm with the new kernel. But still I don't know what went wrong, it just doesn't make sense! _________________ AMD Athlon XP 2600+; 512M RAM;
