if you compile your kernel normally, not using genkernel, where will the generated initrd be?
do you need to turn on a specific kernel config option for it to generate an initrd file?
thank you

An initrd is not generated when you compile your own kernel, and you normally don't need one unless you are doing something fancy like root on LVM. |
