I'm certain there is a simple fix for this that I am simply overlooking, but as soon as I finish bootstrapping and go to emerge system I am greeted by "Error: the sys-devel/hardened-gcc package conflicts with another package...."
I run emerge -p system and the first line gives me "[blocks B ] sys-devel/hardened-gcc (from pkg sys-devel/gcc-3.3.3-r6)". If I try to emerge -C gcc-3.3.3-r6 or emerge -C sys-devel/gcc-3.3.3-r6 (against my better judgemet) I get an error saying that the system couldn't find [whichever package name I gave] to unmerge.
I'm trying to dabble in security and am still becoming familiar with the ins and outs of grsecurity and SELinux. Right now I have decided to give grsecurity a run first and as such would like to resolve this error.
Anybody have any input? |

hardened is being moved into the main gcc packages. There was a large thread on -dev a while back about this, you can probably find it on gmane. |

I'm digging around on gmane but am not finding it. Any further advice while I keep digging here? I'm just trying to get the hardened stage installed right now and have hit a bit of a roadblock here. |

Got some help in #gentoo-hardened on this one. An emerge -C hardened-gcc got rid of that error, but the underlying issue seems to be a bogus profile.
I'm in the midst of starting over to see if I can't resolve this issue once and for all. |
