Yesterday I was trying to change my root partition:

Original root partition: sda4
swap partition: sda3
Bootstrap partition: sda2
NEW root partition: sdb2

I copied everythig over to sdb2, changed my yaboot.conf, updated yaboot, and changed my new /etc/fstab. When tying to boot yaboot still expected my kernel on sda4 altho I had changed the root partition to sdb2. Is yaboot able to boot a root partition that's located on a second HD?

Never done it but give it a try and report back.

For sure, you'll need to replace

Code:

device=hd:

with

Code:

device=ultra1:

as detailed in the yaboot manual.
