|
|
I have the 'Computer' Icon on the desktop.
I get a message:
Code: |
The default action can't open "Computer" because it can't access files at "computer".locations.
No other actions are available to view this file. If you copy this file onto your computer, you may be able to open it.

What can I do to fix this? _________________ [LRU] |

I don't know the 'target', but what it will show is the computer, such as drives, mount points etc. It is a new thing in gnome 2.6 _________________ [LRU] |

I can navigate to it, using other nautilus windows, it just won't launch from the desktop! Bonkers!
I tried adding a new launcher also to computer:///
I am also able to ctl+L and type computer:/// and it works then, just not from desktop icon ! ? _________________ [LRU] |

My best recommendation is to revert to the stable 2.6.0 version that's in portage. I recently emerged the stable version of 2.6 and have had no problems with the Computer desktop icon. _________________ Gentoo...it's like wiping your ass with silk. Or sandpaper. |

I know it's a crappy solution, but here's what I'd try:
Code: | exit GNOME
rm -rf ~/.gnome* ~/.gconf* ~/.metacity ~/.nautilus
start GNOME |
This will "reset" your GNOME desktop back to the defaults. |

afaik, this is a bug in gnome 2.6.0 and above that happens when you assign other actions to nautilus folder items- it affects the spatial nautilus stuff., Computer doesn't work, middle clicking no longer closes the parent windows (sometimes) etc...
there's a bug on nuatuilus bugzilla, but they have so many I don't know how long it will take.... _________________ I like tapes. |
