|

Anyone know if its possible to have both of these going at once?
If I have my nvidia card connected to my tv, bootsplash fails (vesa modes not detected), but if I unconnect that cable, bootsplash works fine.
Is this a problem with nvidia or bootsplash or what?
TIA

If you use nvtv for your tv out here are indeed problems with framebuffer (and thus bootsplash) |

Actually I dont, but thats not really the problem. THe problem is during kernel bootup, if the tvout cable is connected, the kernel doesnt detect and wont allow any vesa modes.
Thanks for the response though.

I have the exact same problem. If I remove the s-video cable, there's no problem, if I leave it in, grub gives me an error like you described. I installed the latest version of nvtv supported by portage (0.4.7), and when I fired it up for the first time, I got a little window, with a lot of options (which I didn't go through ), and some buttons. One of those buttons was calles "TV on". I guess I was too eager to try it, I clicked it almost at the same moment as I read the caption Next thing you know, both the TV and my monitor go black, no more nothing. I reboot, the hard way, now I've got an image on both devices, but the TV displays my bootmessages/output in black&white AND flickering as if it was a real old, real bad VHS tape... then, when I try to start nvtv again, I get a segmentation fault. I find it very curious that I only got to get nvtv working _once_
If there's anyone out there that had this problem, and managed to solve it all, please, don't hold back this valuable knowledge you possess
Thx to all,
