Some programs won't launch

I installed Acroread and it doesn't launch. I located the executable and it reports "Couldn't find the program acroread". The properties say its executable. Whats up with that?

Just tried emerging it...
It installed into /opt/Acrobat4/Reader/intellinux.
Tried running the /opt/Acrobat4/Reader/intellinux/bin/acroread executable, but I get the error "error while loading shared libraries: libreadcore.so: cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory"
Lol :-D

Try using xpdf for now.
