What's a good IDE? I used kdevelop back when i used K, but I don't want to install K just for an ide. i've heard emacs is good, but will it do multiple files well and build from in the environment at one keystroke? |

Emacs does do all this, but be prepared for learning curve - Emacs is a huge program ( considering it embeds a lisp interpreter, mail reader, etc ).
I'm not sure if I'd call it an IDE, but I use it for all my development work, along with GDB and Memprof.

yea, emacs is kinda intimidating. I loved kdevelop, i jsut can't justify the needed kde install. anything similar?
Edit: i found anjuta, it looks good so far. between that and qt-develop i think i'm set. |

Have you checked out Eclipse? You didn't mention what language you use, but I'm guessing it's C++ since I think that's all kdevelop supports. Eclipse has a C++ plugin but I've only used it for Java, but it's pretty good for that. |
