The Antidesktop
Looks very compelling. Will post comments when I get a chance to set it up.

Well, I tried ratpoison and it is really easy to install and fairly simple to use. My only problem is it's lack of configurability. I don't need a lot, but the ability to change the default terminal program without recompiling would be really nice (although you could probably have it point to a wrapper script). Right now I'm using Ion, which is in portage. You can check it out at http://www.students.tut.fi/~tuomov/ion/
It's a lot like ratpoison, but not so... hardocre is the word I'm looking for, I guess. You can make it work just like ratpoison, as in these shots:

But you can also do more by adding and resizing frames, like this:

Some programs have a few quirks with this arrangement, but probably no worse than they would with ratpoison. Plus, with multiple desktops, you can you can keep as many as want to the bare minimum.
Just my two cents. |

Yeah, after reading the link I posted, I've determined ratpoison is a bit too minimalist for me. I might give Ion a try. I'd read about it quite a while back, but was still happy with Gnome 1 then. _________________ Quis separabit? Quo animo? |
