Hi, I'm having a bit of trouble with my mouse (optical, usb, A4tech)-- Ever since I replaced my motherboard (It is now a Gigabyte GA-7VRX), my cursor sometimes stops working. My mouse buttons and scroll wheel work fine, though... The laser under the mouse is completely out, and plugging the mouse into a different port doesn't help the problem much, either. This happens sometimes randomly, and a lot of the time under heavy CPU load. When compiling things, it sometimes cuts out for a few seconds-- Scrolling the wheel helps it get back on track. In games though (Enemy Territory), it just decides not to start working again at all. The mouse works fine in other motherboards, so I'm not sure if I can get a workaround for my motherboard. My input section for X11 is:
Identifier "Mouse1"
Driver "mouse"
Option "Protocol" "IMPS/2"
Option "Device" "/dev/mouse"
Option "ZAxisMapping" "4 5"
And this config worked before I reinstalled Gentoo after replacing motherboards. Thanks. |

This definitely sounds like a hardware problem. Maybe your new motherboard eats more power and your mouse is the one getting the shaft under heavy CPU load.
I suggest upgrading your powersupply, allthough it could be something completely different, but I'm pretty sure that you can't fix this with any config files. _________________ This nerd is using: 64Bit Gentoo Linux with 2.6.x | X.org | Fluxbox on a Dual Opteron 248 |
