|
|
When booting my comp with the 2004.1 liveCD I boot into SMP and it boots fine but after 2 min. it reboot my machine
My machine is
CPU = P4 3.0c hyperthreading
Mobo = MSI 865PE Neo2
Graphics = Gainward(maker) Nvidia fx 5600 256mb
Hard drives = 36 gig sata rapter, 120 gig sata WD
the reason i don't use gentoo is because of the Hyper Threading, and my network card will recinize but not get an ip.
If anything else is need for info just let me know i will be happy to give it to you _________________ ... |

Tricky one, you should try to boot with a non-SMP kernel on the liveCD. If that doesn't reboot, you should compile the system from there. There is absolutely no difference in the compiling time with or without HT. Just make sure you compile your new kernel with SMP support and check that all your hardware is correctly setup in the kernel.
You could also try with noacpi on the boot. But honestly, it could be a million things.
In regards to your network card, try setting the IP manually and see if that works. _________________ This nerd is using: 64Bit Gentoo Linux with 2.6.x | X.org | Fluxbox on a Dual Opteron 248 |
