|
|
I now have some good reasons not to use the binary nvidia driver and want to go back to the native xfree nv driver. (dga, rivatv and more)
My Problem is that my new GeForce FX5900XT has a nv35 chipset, which is not supported by xfree-4.3 (nv30 is highest).
Is there a way to update my xfree-4.3 drivers without installing xfree-4.4 (which has nv35 support).
I would be able to install 4.4, but I'm afraid of breaking my system (and confusing my portage tree).
So is there a way to install new drivers for my running xfree86-4.3-rc5 (from portage)?
thanks - Black-Star |

You could maybe look at xorg-x11, which is by now a fairly seamless change from xfree, and it supports the NV35 chipset _________________ Jingle Jangle Jewellery |

Did it.
At this moment I'm using my brand new build X.org Desktop with KDE.
Fonts are a little smaller and mouse is too slow, but this should be easily fixable.
It makes good impressions, I'll tell how things work (like rivatv).
[EDIT]
Yeah - rivatv works great. Watching TV with xawtv works without any strange things happening.
There are still some problems between binary nvidia-driver and rivatv-modules.
I think the rivatv-developer uses nv-driver, too. |
