check your nameservers in /etc/resolv.conf

You'll need nameservers to resove a hostname to a ipaddress.

for an exsample:

when you open your webbrowser and go to http://google.com
then you go to http://216.239.39.99 instead.

you connect to a nameserver when you resolv http://google.com to http://216.239.39.99

is there anything in /etc/resolv.conf ?
can you ping google.com ?
can you ping your firewall ?
try pinging google.com ipaddress: 216.239.39.99

crovax123,

Smoothwall is your nameserver.
In your /etc/resolv.conf you need
Code:
nameserver <IP of smoothwall>

if its smoothwall then it probably has DHCP enabled and you should just be able to type:

Code:
dhcpcd eth0

if you're using eth0 as the nic.
