|
|
Helo,
After several trials and as many aborted installations, here is my problem.
When I try to bootstrap the process stops, always yielding the same error message:
Code: | configure : error : C++ preprocessor "lib/cpp" fails sanity check
sys-libs/ncurses-5.4-r1 failed
function econf, line 365, exitcode 1
econf failed |
I searched in the mailinglists and checked make.conf (the last time I used it in it's standard form), nothing helps.
Can somebody tell me if there is a solution for this problem ?
Finally two other questions :
Is it truth that the installation of version 2004.1 is more problematic then version 2004.0 ?
(although I'm reporting here my first unsolved problem, it's not the first problem that I encounter during this installation)
Can 2004.0 handle ICH5 ?
By the way, I'm caring a lot about this. Having a file and printerserver running on lfs, I was looking for a solution that was less tedious to maintain to have my workstation running on.
After some reading on the homepage I was rapidly convinced of the unique Gentoo-philosophy between lfs and an ordinary distribution.
So I already say thank you to the simple existance of Gentoo.
Thanks

before bootstrapping, make sure you run
emerge sync
or
emerge-webrsync
the above will update your portage tree, so if there were problems with
the plain jane livecd, chances are they would have been ironed out.
