for creating a user "gentoo":
# useradd gentoo -m -G users,audio,wheel -s /bin/bash
This will add a user gentoo, will make possible for him/her to use sound-related devices (/dev/sound/*), will make possible for him/her to switch to root (using su) and will make /bin/bash his/her login shell |

passwd lucas is ok. you have to create a "UNIX password", because it is exactly the same as a password.
