I want to emerge kdenetwork without "Lisa", "Remote Desktop Connection" and "Desktop Sharing". Can this be done using using the DO_NOT_COMPILE flag? (I've suceeded at every thing but this.)

Better yet: I only installed kdenetwork because the kdepim ebuild requires kdenetwork as a dependency. But from kdepim, I only build Kontact (KAddressBook,KAlarm, KMail, konsolekalendar, KOrganizer and ktnef). It seems to me, I really don't actually need kdenetwork.

I believe you can, at least for the desktop sharing part.
If you take a good look at your console messages during the emerge kdenetwork, after the configure, but before the actual compile, a brief listing is shown of all the parts that are to be compiled yes/no.
I think I remember that there are more choices than desribed in the file above.

I would also like to know why kdenetwork is needed as a dependency of kdepim. I noticed kmail works as always if I unmerge kdenetwork.

Thanks for the info. I guess I should use "krfb" and "krdc" in the DO_NOT_COMPILE flag.

After looking at what kdenetwork contains, I'm hard pressed to figure out why its needed as well. (Although there seems to be an rss client in the kdenetwork package that docs.kde.org does not mention).

Anyway, I emerged kpim last night without kdenetwork and it seems fine.
