2.6 kernel gnome alsa comiled in as modules n such

so the problem is i can run gnome and the startup sounds work, aplay and esdworks, but aplay sounds like shit. the sound events dont play only when starting. last time i remember i had to disable something maby oss and reemerge alsa or esound.

i cant remember can someone here please remind me, andonce again the sound does work with aplay or esdplay but not with the gnome sound system when testing sound- and yes i emerge gnome-sound so i have the files.

does anyone know know what i mean bout this.

once again something like emerge esound with -alsa flag or something and then the dual channel and sound in gnome should work ?
