Hello,

When I run the "pruneworld -d" script, one of the packages that it wants to remove is media-plugins/gst-plugins-mad. When the unmerge happens it runs into an error in the ebuild script.

Code:
>>> Unmerging media-plugins/gst-plugins-mad-0.6.4...
No package files given... Grabbing a set.
/usr/sbin/ebuild.sh:
/var/db/pkg/media-plugins/gst-plugins-mad-0.6.4/gst-plugins-mad-0.6.4.ebuild: line 10: unexpected EOF while looking for matching `"'
/usr/sbin/ebuild.sh:
/var/db/pkg/media-plugins/gst-plugins-mad-0.6.4/gst-plugins-mad-0.6.4.ebuild: line 12: syntax error: unexpected end of file

!!! ERROR: media-plugins/gst-plugins-mad-0.6.4 failed.
!!! Function , Line 1297, Exitcode 1
!!! error sourcing ebuild

!!! FAILED prerm: 1

This also effectively stops the unmerging of the other identified packages.

What is the best course of action to fix this issue? Should I just emerge the package (which is at 0.8.1 now) and then unmerge? Is this an error with the pruneworld script itself or just an error with unmerging that particular ebuild?

Thanks for any insight.

That looks like the ebuild in /var/db/pkg has somehow got corrupted. Can you post the contents of it?

It's an error in /var/db/pkg/media-plugins/gst-plugins-mad-0.6.4/gst-plugins-mad-0.6.4.ebuild. At the end of line 12, there should be a ", but there is something else. In my case it was ^A. Edit the file and everything shoul work for you. You may also want to grab a new copy of the script, now known as dep.
