Well after seeing so many AWESOME desktops using FVWM..I've decided to ditch Fluxbox and KDE and move to it.
I have this at my disposal:
http://www.fvwm.org/documentation/manpages/stable/
What I am asking of you is...I need links to apps for FVWM, additional configuration resources, customization resources (other than the man pages on their site.)
Help me get myself a nice FVWM desktop! |

you might want to try taviso's or ikaro's .fvwm2rc and go from there, or play around with fvwm-crystal (in Portage). Also, you might want to check http://www.freshmeat.net/ for FVWM themes and such. _________________ ~~ Peter: Programmer, Mathematician, STEM & Free Software Advocate, Enlightened Agent, Transhumanist, Fedora contributor

Check out The F? Virtual Window Manager. There's a lot to go through in there, but it is a good start. _________________ Quis separabit? Quo animo? |

Its a shame that FVWM doesn't have a community site of some sort. A place to discuss and archive configs, tricks, hacks, themes etc. Judging by the size of the FVWM thread such a site would be a roaring success.
The sheer size of the thread itself puts me off getting stuck into fvwm myself. I've yet to figure out why forums which have "threads" for discussions insist of shoving all the information into one big long nightmare of a thread. Kinda defeats the purpose of having a forum. |

There should be sub forums for the DEs and WMs
Wouldn't be that much work would it? It is phpBB :-p |

Nothing requires the thread to be that large. Nevertheless, it is a useful resource. _________________ Quis separabit? Quo animo? |

I don't think that is the solution. This forum is for gentoo, not for particular DE's or WM's. If we had separate forums for those we'd attract a lot of non-gentoo users asking non-gentoo questions and using gentoo resources, bandwidth etc.
FVWM needs its own community site badly, but just not hosted here.
Anyone fancy a go at www.fvwm-look.org ? |

Well, I recently discovered there is an FvwmWiki linked on the fvwm homepage. I'm sure it's worth a look and there are many pages still missing.
But I agree with you Mongrol - something like fvwm-look.org would be nice indeed. Otherwise there are the different mailing lists which are a great source for support. |
