Hi,

I'm currently trying to get Thief 2 to work in wine or cvswinex.

The install goes OK, I use a patch to remove CD-checks (I owe the original, though - well, you can't check it, but believe me, I do)

And then I can't get the darn game to work.

Any1 ever had success on this one?

Thansk for your hints!!

What do you mean you cant get the game to work? ANy error messages in the console or from the game itself? is this 'pure' wine or that bastard offspring WineX?

I tried both.

cvswinex (which often works better with games) gives me the following output :
Quote:
bash-2.05b$ cvswinex thief2.exe

the WINEDEBUG environment variable instead, like this:

None gives significant result. I run the game, a black window briefly appears then disappears and that's it...

Any ideas?

Thanks for your help.

Sounds like a general incompatability between wine(x) and Thief2. For now your options (as I see them) are to either run it in that "other" os, or submit a bug-report to winex (Wine doesn't handle support for games AFAIK). Atleast do the latter. I don't 100% support Transgaming since its not encouraging Game developers to port to Linux, but at the same time I can't completely say I hate them, since they allow me to game in my fav os :)
