I just did an emerge mod_perl on my server and now I see a message with green asterisks in front of it that tell me to run a certain command to update my apache.conf file. Now I'm wondering if I've missed this type of message on other emerges I've done and I should find out. How can I do that? |

Thanks Souperman. Has the functionality discussed in that thread been added to Gentoo yet? |

If you set PORT_LOGDIR in make.conf, and create the directory to which it refers, then Portage will log all the build messages and informational messages for each package it merges. For each package merged, there will be two files in $PORT_LOGDIR, with names of the form xxxx_package-version.log. The lower numbered file will be a complete build log; the higher numbered will be the post installation messages. |
