|
|
I have just installed Gentoo Linux (kernel 2.6.6) on an old PII 400mhz PC and would like to use it as both a Cable router and a Print Server for my home network. Where can I get some good (and recent) information and hopefully tutorials on doing this?
Thanks,

For the router part look for everything related to iptables (the firewall). You'll need to make sure the computer is tightly secured from outside (the cable model) traffic.
For the print server, look for samba (for windows clients) and CUPS ( for unix clients). _________________ Underwater photo gallery

To serve other computers, look up IP Masquerading with iptables. _________________ s/(?<!gnu\/)linux(?! kernel)/GNU\/Linux/gi
