What is your recommendation for a game which doesn't get you addicted but helps you relax after doing several hours of work? (preferably in the portage ) |

Moved from 'GC' to 'G&P'.
My favourite is armagetron by the way. _________________ "To have a successful open source project, you need to be at least somewhat successful at getting along with people." -- Daniel Robbins |

I CANT STAND playing games (ok maybe I can.. ) that you can't just relax while you play.. for example RPGS.. you have to be serious the entire time you are playing one. I like nethack. |

Any turn based game that lets you play at your own pace would work nicely. Maybe pool games, I think there's foobilliard and another one (gbilliard?)
RPGs and nethack might be addictive though, yeah. |

Try Enemy Territory , it is relaxing and stratigic at the same time and once you played it for a while (like an hour or 20 and u got all stats maxed out on ur charecter (LVL 8 stays the same on all chars [like light weapons and field recognision], and other 4 levels are gained for each of the 5 character types special abilitys)...............if you maxed out the stats, then there is no point in playing the game any more because its not that fun..
Plus you get to meet alot of interesting people online and get to noe them pretty well |

I'm not shure what kind of games you are into, (if any) but here are my suggestions:
Pysol - A collection of over 200 solitary games.
Rocks 'n Diamonds - A boulderdash type game.
SolarWolf - 2D frantic arcade game of collecting boxes and dodging bullets.
LBreakout2 - A very nice breakout game.
All theese games are in portage, how addictive they are depends on you I guess.
You can find many more games on: www.happypenguin.org
If you want to browse all the games in portage I recomend visiting: www.gentoo-portage.com |

First of all, sorry for having posted in the wrong forum...
I did have a look inside this "Gamers & Players" forum but all I found were mostly technical info on how to set up things... so I posted to the Gentoo Chat forum... Thanks for correcting this
And thanks for all of your input. I especially like these two sites.
The second one even comes with screenshots! wow!
I think I will hav a busy weekend testing these games out
Thanks.

The linux community could benefit from some good sports games. Like hockey, football, soccer, golf. I wish EA made their games for linux. |

Yeah GTA:Vice City is a nice way to relieve stress. Im running it under wineX 3.3.1 and it works fine (well it freezes up sometims when i exit the game, and a small texture bug happens, but after you update Vice City to the latest version, the texture bug goes away)
Vice City is a type of game where you can drive, ride , and fly around the huge city in: Motorcycles,Cars,Boats,Helis, and planes. Also if you find all 100 secret packages, man will you be having fun.
It's also a type of game that you can play for short or long periods of time and be satisfied.
Give it a whirl |

Definitely check out Solarwolf, also Supertux, Pingus, and Racer (racer-bin in portage).
There are a lot of good Free games out there. _________________ Want Free games?

Get games-puzzle/fishfillets (or is that fish-fillets?)
It's only 8 levels, but if you have Windows you can get the full version (it's under GPL nowadays) at sourceforge. It's a big download (~220MB) because of the voices (they're in Russian or something, unfortunately). |

Ever popular are of course emulators:
see
www.zophar.net
and if you own the game you can download the ROM and indulge in classic time wasters like Tetris for Gameboy, Zelda for NES, or ChronoTrigger for Snes. Most emulators are in portage already. |

I second lbreakout2, that game is hypnotizing (and horribly, horribly addicting). I spent at least an hour a day playing it for a year before I weaned myself off it. However, I managed to pass my addiction on to my roommate so he continued playing after I stopped ;) |
