Hi,
I'm running a sony vaio with a via82xx based sound card. I nver had any problems until recently.
At some point in the 2.6 kernel tree somehing has started going wrong. I'm not sure when, I dont use sound on this machine an awful lot.
I'm currently running
2.6.7-rc3-mm2
Pure udev system
and have alsa compiled as kernel modules.
I get
Code: |
ALSA sound/pci/via82xx.c:2026: unable to grab ports 0x1000-0x10ff
|
From dmesg, and some, but not all devices showing up in /dev
Code: |
anthony@venus anthony $ ls /dev/snd
controlC0 seq timer
anthony@venus anthony $ ls /dev/sound
sequencer sequencer2
anthony@venus anthony $ ls /dev

I think, you have to disable "Character Devices"->"Sony Programmable Interuptcontroller"in your kernelconfig. Then your soundcard should work. |

Hmm...hadn't thought of that, I will give it a try.
Any idea why it should work? _________________ My Public Key
