ok i have installed gentoo before but i lost my origianal copies of the live cds(universal) but now i have a problem.......
i am on a S-L-O-W 56k dial up and downloaded the minimal install for 2004.1 ....well this is all fine and good with one exception......it has no stages or portage trees on it! well after comming to this realization... i went and got the stage 3 tarball and latest portage snapshot... ok silly me burned the install, then the stage 3 tarball and portage tree on a seprate cd.....so now im stuck with an install cd that needs an always on (broadband) connection to install gentoo and a cd with the other parts i need to acculy install it... so i got to thinking.....why not just put it all on the same cd so i can just decompress the stage and portage tree from the same cd.....ok i have tried burning this "modified " live cd 6 ways from sunday and it results in a broken live cd every time.... i have tried to umount /dev/cdroms/cdrom0 so i can remount the cd with the other needed files on it but i cant unmount the drive once the working live cd boots.....cant read dmesg to findout what the second cdrom is being seen as to mount it in that drive cause it boots to fast to read the needed info...
cant download the new universal cd as it would take weeks more than likely.......cant buy a cd from the site cause im that tight on money right now....how do i display dmesg a page at a time or correctly add the needed files to the live cd useing nero under winblows xp? _________________ **** GENTOO SYSTEM SPECS ****
