It's a great LiveCD :)
One thing I'd might like to see in it is an additional SMP kernel and especially the 3Ware 9500 driver as a module, since there is no livecd for the 9500 driver (it's only in the 2.6.x-mm kernel) and with that one enabled there would be finally a way to install gentoo with the 3Ware 9500 controller without the hassle of using a different install as a base or doing your own liveCD.

Regards,
Haldir

Don't get me wrong - I really do appreciate the frequent updates (2.6.7-Redeeman7 is working GREAT here by the way) 8)

ok, i solved the issue with X. i just needed the cutting edge nvidia kernel modules and glx from https://bugs.gentoo.org/show_bug.cgi?id=55714 .

however, i'm still a bit worried about this Reiser4 anomoly -- it appears a log is destroyed if it is in use during a system failure requireing a manual reset.

anyone have luck linking /usr/portage and /var/tmp/portage to a reiser4 partition?

in anycase apparently it allows you to use 4k stacks and regparm without fear. i've got it running on a gcc3.4 system right now, but with 8k stacks and no regparm.

an idea for the next reiser4 live cd would be to add ebuild to it. you could make a script that downloads the most current nvida-kernel and glx, and ati equivilents, and the current redeeman, xx, love, and evil sources ebuilds.

Hmmmm. Can't get to kaspersandberg redeeman-sources for hours to get redeeman7. Same error as before.

"Timeout on server
Connection was to kaspersandberg.com at port 80"

Maybe you should take the offer of another server, as this one often seems too busy, or having other problems?:D

As a last resort to get an mm5/reiser4 kernel, I then went to namesys auto/snapshots, and the latest version is only for mm4, so I'm wondering how redeeman7 can be for mm5? Has it been withdrawn for some reason?

I have /usr/portage linked to a reiser4 partition, no problems that I've noticed.

Thanx for the Reiser4 LiveCD, Redeeman. Quick question: I want to verify that what I d/led was correct, so is there any chance we can get a MD5 hash or GPG signature? Thanx, dude.

I have a question. I have followed the instructions. I do a
Code:
ACCEPT_KEYWORDS="~x86" emerge =development-sources-2.6.7

Then I patch that kernel with the mm2 patch by doing a
Code:
bunzip2 -dc ../../2.6.7-mm2.bz2 | patch -p1

then I patch it with redeeman's patch
Code:
bunzip2 -dc ../../2.6.7-Redeeman7.bz2 | patch -p3

I notice however that I don't have supermount in any of those patches. So I patch the kernel again with cko's patchset. This causes a compile error in sched.o or somethign along those lines. Now I try everythign again without patching with cko but I still get that error.

Also would doing a
Code:
fsck.reiser4 --build-sb --build-fs --fix /dev/hdax
destroy an existing partition and if so hwo can I upgrade my current reiser partition to 0.5.5 without borking anything.

Also anyone know of a patch for the 2.6.7 kernel that has supermount reiser4 and bootsplash in it?

lefteye: if you don't need supermount, you can try stardust-sources -> https://forums.gentoo.org/viewtopic.php?t=192934&highlight=
supermount is old anyway, you heard of ivman? it's much better for accomplishing automounting :) search the forum for instructions, there's an ivman thread somewhere..

I'm probably mistaken, but I think one of the older ck-sources had all three...

Yeah I'm about to just stay on kernel 2.6.5 until this thing fixes itself. I used the redeeman patch AND the ck0patch before. They worked pretty good and I've been using them since. DUno whatsup nowtho.

redeeman - ftp would be nice. It's easier for me to ftp to my fav gentoo mirror than remembering the exact address for wget.

ncftp should be on the CD, it's much nicer than ftp :)
