I have a working gentoo machine
i what to do a new install to clean things up
all my saved files are on another partition
I heard that you can install gentoo from a working machine

Simplest way would prolly be just to do a normal reinstall since you are already familiar with it, if that is how you did it the first time that is. _________________ Come and play in my land |

If you have yet another free partition, you could install on that (in a chrooted environment) and easily boot to that with the right GRUB configuring.
