|
|
I have been busy way too long again, with getting my printer(Epson Stylus C60) to work. I followed the instruction in the documentation of Gentoo. Affter that I followed the instructions of linuxprinting.org and finally some instruction of other people on the forum.
I get the following error, when printing the test page.
"Printer not connected; will retry in 30 seconds..."
I know the cable is plugged in and my printer is not dead (Windows works).
So what can I do?
I myself think it's a kernel issue. I have usbcore, compiled in my kernel and I think I have printer to. I don't have the modules. |

may not be so bad
try adding another printer item from the cups admin.
cant say why but this has got me out of similar spot.
try installing turbo-print (free) drivers , That 's what I use with my epson925 photo and its outstanding.

Do you have the 'lp' module either loaded or compiled into the kernel? |

It's not loaded and I don't have the module. |

Sorry, lp is actually for parallel port printers. I meant 'usblp'. For 2.6.x it's in Device Drivers->Character Devices->USB Support->Support for Host-side USB->USB Printer Support.
If it is a parallel port printer, 'lp' is in Device Drivers->Character Devices->Parallel Printer Support |

I got it working. It was a kernel issue. EHCI, UHCI. If it's detected at startup, stuff will general work. |
