Hi

I am using a Soundblaster Live! Value and so the emu10k1-drivers.

First of all everything worked fine and i heared clear sound as i never heard under Windows

But then the big Crash:

I just emerged gnome-alsamixer and tried a few settings (surround, digital/analog jack, etc) and suddenly the sound was totally scratched.
I guess it has got something to do with the maximum mixer-levels or so.

Does anybody know how to fix this?

start muting channels 1 by 1 somewhere one of your recording inputs is feeding out your speakers I had a similar problem with my audigy. Ended up the microphone input jack had become unmuted and was feeding the eletro-static sound from inside my case to my speakers.

Only use those emu10k1 drivers for the 2.4 kernel (I read in the handbook).
I also had some trouble with kernel 2.6.9-r9 builtin drivers, also with alsa 1.06 a.
Using the alsa-1.07 drivers and disabling them in the kernel did the trick.

Great sound through Kaffeine now, using the digital out xine engine setting.

Any1 knows how to use this system wide?
