|
|
Good day,
Emerging a whole lot of stuff now gives me the error xmkmf not found. I copied this from another gentoo box I have, which then made the error turn into imake not found. I copied this too, and now the error is:
Code: | lithium X11 # xmkmf
imake -DUseInstalled -I/usr/X11R6/lib/X11/config
imake: No such file or directory
imake: No description file.
Stop.

which is the same as if I try to emerge something.
Which file is actually missing? I could copy this as well if I just knew what to copy. Copying the entire .../X11/config directory did not help.
I've searched the forums quite a bit for these problems, and found nothing helpful. Some people said it'd help to re-emerge xfree. It didn't for me, and the most helpful advice beyond that I found was "reinstall from scratch". I'm not in a position to do that so I'd appreciate any help.
Regards,
/Stary |

If you emerge strace, you can use it to discover what file is missing, with something like Code: | $ strace -eopen -f xmkmf |

If you can't find what is missing, emerge xfree again, it should install xmkmf as well. _________________ There's someone in my head but it's not me - Pink Floyd |

There are a few other threads on this including this one. In that case, an upgrade of motif klobbered xmkmf/imake. Reemerging xfree seems to be the best solution so far... _________________ "An empty head is not really empty; it is stuffed with rubbish.
