I just reconfigured my kernel, it was a newer version so I gave it a different name ("kernel-2.6.7-gentoo"), but when I went to change the grub config file I couldn't find it. I couldn't even find the grub folder. Isn't it supposed to be in /boot? I tried creating a grub folder in /boot with a new config file, but when I reboot it still loads the old kernel. How can I change grub? |

Have you mounted /boot? By default, it doesn't mount automatically for safety reasons and so you don't nuke your kernel by accident.
Remove any files existing in /boot before mounting the partition (make absolutely sure that it isn't mounted by typing "mount") then "mount /boot" and edit the grub.conf and copy the new kernel over. |
