I want to get my system clock just staying at the right time. I set it and it goes all over the place.

When I was first setting up my 2.6.7r6 kernel I installed RTC thinking that it might fix my problem. I forgot to turn on DMA and botted into the kernel.

I got the "DMA not enabled. This may cause massive slowing down of the fsck process" error on the loading screen.

When I remade the kernel this time with DMA enabled, I rebooted and got an error from RTC saying that it was not working properly and may be caused by DMA being enabled and a couple of other things that I wasn't using.

Any ideas on what I should/shouldn't be doing?

I could be wrong, which isn't unusual, but possibly the following link is a similar issue...
