devo comprarmi una scheda audio (non se se prenderla usata o nuova)
vorrei se è possibile una lista delle schede audio compatibili con gentoo.

Tutte quelle compatibili con linux 
In particolare, consiglio quelle supportate da alsa che dal kernel 2.6 è il "default" per la gestione dell'audio

Le schede "supportate da gentoo" sono quelle supportate dal kernel linux, quindi in generale da alsa.
Se hai in mente qualcosa di particolare i conviene direttamente andare a vedere sul sito alsa se c'é il supporto e se é totale (es. la scheda può fare audio a 7.1 ma non é detto che alsa supporti questa feature).

quale scheda video tipo la sound blaster live mi consigliate da spendere poco e che si trovano i driver?
a me andrebbe bene anche la sound blaster live della creative labs ma ho guardato sul sito e mi dice che non ci son odriver.. boh

ho guardato nel link che mi hai dato te e ho visto che la crative sound blaster live è compatibile... ma poi ho guardato per sicurezza sul sito della creative e non ho trovato i suoi driver...

Non ti servono driver prodotti da creative (anche perchè credo non ce ne siano).
Se la scheda è nell'elenco vuol dire che è supportata dal kernel, basta scegliere le giuste voci nel menu di configurazione del kernel. |

Io fino a qualche settimana fa ho usato una sound blaster live e tutto filava benissimo nessun problema con gli alsa(meglio se dalla versione 1.03 in poi  )...
Ora uso quella integrata della M/B e comunque funziona
PS: ho letto anche di gente che usava il sistema dolby 5.1, io non l'ho pero' mai provato

in piùti consiglio anche di guardare anche questo post che a mio parere meriterebbe anche di essere incluso tra gli "utilissimi"

Serve per abilitare il software mixing per sentire più roba che suona contemporaneamente (detto in modo abbastanza sintetico)

il software mixing non serve con la sound blaster live (emu10k1), l'hardware mixing è pienamente supportato

sinceramente io ho avuto problemi con la scheda integrata della mb. non mi ricordo esattamente il modello cmq la mb è una AV78X.
i problemi nella fattispecie erano: suono accellerato quando giocavo a UT2003.
ravanando in giro per il forum sembra che non ci sia niente da fare, beh fino al momento che mi sono preso una soundblaster 5.1 digital. nessunissimo problema
