First off, don't send this to the p2p thread, its dead.
Ok, I got amule, and I would probably like it, but whenever I start a download, it is a full red bar. I find a file with 7 sources, and starting the download 1 second after search, and there are NO souces???
Thats annoying, plus I don't like the fact that I have to manually find servers and all. I was thinking about looking into Gift (with a gui), any suggestions?
EDIT: Ok, I finally got Gift working, and It seems to be searching and downloading, but all I can get corectly is fasttract. gnutella wont connjects and openft goes on and off. |

I think the best p2p is mldonkey. It has gui, telnet and web interface. It can connect to many types of networks edonkey, gnutella, fasttrack, bittorrent, limewire, direct-connect, etc...
I know mldonkey is old but it is the best for me! _________________ Entropy rulz world.

I am behind a router firewall. I believe I have the ports for fasttrack forwarded though, and I have gotten 30% of one song, but these transfer rates are rediculous! Rarely do any downloads move, and when they do, its only a little bit. |

I don't know how fasttrack works but for example for edonkey:
If you forward incorrectly ports, you can get LowID and then transfer go but very slow.
As i said i don't know if something similar can happen with fasttrack.
Can you just change firewall rules to accept forwarding all to discard a firewall missconfiguration? _________________ Entropy rulz world.

I know the newest gift (+plugins) is doing great in portage, and you may want to try it- it's far more stable than some of the older versions. Just "emerge gift gift-fasttrack gift-gnutella gift-openft -u" and then run "gift-setup" as your user, then "emerge apollon" or the frontend of your choice. As there have been quite a few mldonkey problems I've seen, so far the newest gift version has worked for most people. _________________ Me |
