Does any one here play Terminus on Gentoo? It looked interesting to me, and I downloaded the demo, but when I run it, it exits with a weird error:

and spits me back to my console. Now, my free RAM is in the 100's of M, and I do have OpenGL set up to well enough to run Quake3, so I can't imagine it's the hardware. Anyone have any ideas? |

I bought Terminus ages ago... It was bundled with Quake 3 Linux version IIRC.
At the time I was using slack and I never got the damn thing working. I dug it out over the weekend while I was doing a tidy up and it runs like a dream. _________________ Django |

I play Terminus all the time. It works great! I am so glad I found it for $6 at EB. I find it works better in Linux than in winland.

I just got done playing it for a good four hours while the blizard raged around my dorm. I got a nice $80K bounty on my head before the number of ships waiting in ambush outside the station I was in became too many for me to handle. Heh heh. Anyway, I love that game. |

Dunno if this classes as abandonware, yet ... there's a user operated site which has an enhanced copy of the game licensed through Vicarious Visions
Check out Terminus Point - they look like they have some buy links, too...
The one thing that's getting me @ the moment is I can't patch it!! v1.1 runs sweet, but I tried to patch to latest v1.81 and it just damn well hangs... Oh well - email sent to vvisions.com tech support - let's see if they have an answer
Update 18/02/2k3: Patch sorted - Thanks to the guy @ Terminus Point
Turns out it doesn't like the default sound settings...
terminus +linux_sound_output /dev/audio solves the problems _________________ Django |
