I've got a few empty yet well-powered boxes around, and was wondering if OpenMOSIX came via the Kernel 2.6.x line. Is there, or is there even a development line of these kernels for me to try?
Thanks. _________________ I was a Gangster for Capitalism, by Major General Smedley Butler.

Nevermind. On the openMosix website:
Quote: | For 2.6, we are (in summary):
Moving all code we can from kernel to user-space, but zero configuration operation is still the goal, just as in 2.4.
Separating arch dependant/independent code.
2.6 has arch directories with preliminary code for PPC, I86-64 etc., but openMosix stable releases will be not be made available for those platforms.
openMosix stable will only be available for i386 and, eventually, for the AMD Opteron.
Plus, there will be cleanups or a total rewrite of some parts.
openGFS is a long-term goal, but not immediate for 2.6.
Integration of InfiniBand drivers. |

would be cool if you'd report a bit on stability.
The README turned me off a while ago:
This patch is for coward, who don't care about their data.
Please don't report "data loss" or something similar: I DON'T CARE.
and the only word that scares me a bit is data loss :p
I run a cutting edge system with gcc3.4 and nptl, but I stay far away from reiser4 |
