|
|
hi,
I'm new to linux, and trying to setup my webserver. I'm having a few issues.
1. I did get to a point where html will appear from the default /var/www/localhost/htdocs. However, when I modify apache2.conf DocumentRoot and restart the server, it is still looking in the default folder. Anyone have any ideas?
2. I would like the default dir to be /home/bjw/website. Once html files do run from there by default, can I just create a cgi-bin dir under that path or would apache still look under the default cgi-bin? I looked in teh apache2.conf file and didn't see any place to specify anything else. Are there any other key files for configuring apache?
3. I was having problems executing .pl files from cgi-bin, but I just figured out it was a problem with permissions. How can I set default permissions for files I create in linux. They all start with only read permissions, then I have to go back and chmod them. It's annoying. BTW, I'm using kernel 2.6 and gnome if it makes a difference.
Any help is appreciated. Thanks

try commenting out the include vhosts/vhosts.conf line in commonapache2.con , restart the server & see
if its still not correct
whats the output of
cat commonapache2.conf |grep -v '#'
and tail /var/log/apache2/error_log after youve tried to get a page. |
