Hi,
Searching through the forums I found a couple of persons that had a similar problem to mine but no answer had been given ...
In my case Open Office bombs out with an unrecoverable error when I attempt to open an HTML document. Some that I have opened before.
It seems to come and go because it went away and now it's back.
Looking at /var/log I have this message similar to the others (only the program is different)
Quote: | grsec attempted resource overstep by requesting 4096 for RLIMIT_CORE against limit 0 by soffice.bin:12424) |
I am suspecting that I accepted some changes for a conf file in a recent update and this might be causing it but I have no clue which ... file!
Anyone can suggest in which direction I might look!
My kernel version is 2.4.20-gentoo-r8
Thanks |

I did search quite a bit in different places to advance with this problem:
Grsecurity forum: more or less saying it might be a problem with Open Office
Open Office: nothing close to it (Trying to find some kind of log file OO would write before crashing: crashrep is supposed to be installed but no sign of it)
I did reboot (figured maybe something happens when up for some time) I could open the first HTML document without crashing. Tried a second no luck.
This is happening since I did an emerge --updtate (this is the one place I might have replacde a cfg file)
Since it crashes with HTML documents that have a link to some sites (since under Windows Zone Alarm asks for permission to connect to internet,) I suppose OO tries this connection but my update might have change how grsec handles these requests from OO and yields a crash.
I have been opening documents like those for the last two years without problems and until the --update
So I am really trying to find in which direction I should aim and I tried this forum because there where similar messages.
Thanks for any help.

Getting closer and closer to the problem!
Could anyone tell me where I should be looking for changing a setting on my system that would prevent Open Office to access a site on the Internet to fetch a style sheet in an HTML document?
It is the external reference that causes my problem and makes OO crash after what I guess is grsec saying ...No.. No! hands off!
Thanks
