Hi All!
I have laptop COMPAQ Armada 1750 with video ATI 3D Rage LT Pro AGP-133.
After 5 minutes of inactivity the screen of laptop turns off. Next I can't turn it on. There is just the black screen. The screen begins working again when I jump into console mode but not in X. So, I should restart X server to continue my work but it's very bad way. ):
I've tryied to set Option "DPMS" "0" in /etc/X11/XF86Config but it didn't solve the problem.
Does anybody know how to solve my problem? |

Try commenting out the line with Option "DPMS".
To check if it is enabled or not, look in the X log file (/var/log/Xorg.0.log (or Xfree.0.log))
for lines containing DPMS. |

Not a solution, but maybe a "workaround":
Switch to console before you leave your computer for 5 minutes?
CTRL-ALT-F2 ==> wait 10 minutes ==> CTRL-ALT-F7 ==> see what happens? _________________ Use Compact Flash cards as a silent IDE hard drive |
