Gentoo doesn't act like it detects my cd-rom drives (they're just your basic drives, ata on a two-inch bus. It's not just a burning thing, straight up, it just decides not to detct my cd-rw and cd-rom drive. Thank you. _________________ Water, water everywhere,

Are the drives recognized in the BIOS Setup? Did you compile support for IDE CD-ROMS (or for IDE in general) into your kernel? In case you did build it as a module: Did you load it? _________________ [x] <-- Nail here for new monitor |

Give us your dmesg, cdrecord -scanbus and kernel .config!
Maybe your SCSI isn't installed correctly... |

Sorry I took so long. Yes, the drives are recognized in my BIOS and I did enable IDE ans SCSI emulation. The following is the output of cdrecord -scanbus:

cdrecord: No such file or directory. Cannot open '/dev/pg*'. Cannot open SCSI dr

cdrecord: For possible targets try 'cdrecord -scanbus'. Make sure you are root.
cdrecord: For possible transport specifiers try 'cdrecord dev=help'.
