I have an Epson Stylus Photo 810 printer, which works perfectly with Mandrake Linux but I cannot seem to get it to work with Gentoo. I have followed the directions in the Gentoo Printing guide explicitly, and the printer shows no signs of intending to print anything when I send test pages to it. I cannot imagine what the problem is.

The usblp and usbcore drivers load fine; and I have both CUPS, foomatic and gimp-print installed.

Yeah, I hate it when it does that. cupsd has very unenlightening error messages. For the solution that worked for me, see

Thank you for the helpful link, but it has unfortunately not made any difference in my case. Maybe I've done something wrong, so I'll keep working at it when I have enough time.

I now have an unusual situation:

The printer does not work with Windows (XP Pro) either.
Secondly, the printer does work on my laptop (XP Home).

So now I don't have a clue what to do.

Success! It now works on Windows and Gentoo. I don't know why it works, but it does. Thank you for your help anyway.
