Try (as root) to edit /usr/X11/XF86Config.
There is a line there with something like this:
Code:
#Load   "glx"

Just remove the #, and when your drivers are succesfully installed, it should work

Loading glx certainly fixed the opengl error, but now when i start emulation on a rom in mupen64 nothing happens. It just hangs there, with no video or sound. As for the quake demo, it only gives me 2.2fps, when i play so that doesnt help much. I have a nvidia Ge5200 64mb card. Below is where mupen64 hangs...

Code:
christian@zerokill christian $ mupen64
rom size: 12582912 bytes (or 12 Mb or 96 Megabits)
file found
rom size: 12582912 bytes (or 12 Mb or 96 Megabits)

Have you correctly installed the nvidia drivers ?
You can find how you have to do this at:
http://www.gentoo.org/doc/en/desktop.xml#doc_chap2_sect5
For Mupen64: I could never make this app run myself, so I can't help with this
