Is there a command-line program for kde that shows the text entered as parameter like a on-screen-display on your kde dekstop (like Kaffeine does with the song name) ? |

You could check out XOSD (http://www.ignavus.net/software.html). XOSD is a library for doing OSD. If there is not already a demo application that does what you need, it shouldn't take long to write one.

Code: | #emerge xosd
#osd_cat < myfile.txt |
Code: | #echo "Hello World" | osd_cat |

How can I change the font and the font size ?
I've tried using the --font=arial option, but this doesn't work.
They give a example font with --help, but I don't understand it:
Code: | --font=-misc-fixed-medium-r-semicondensed--*-*-*-*-c-*-*-* | [/code] |

i think the easiest way to get the font you want is to use xfontsel to select one and than just copy and paste it to the commandline/script that needs it |

Hi,
I think, you can use this font
-adobe-helvetica-bold-r-normal-*-24-*-*-*-*-*-iso8859-1
